Our newest Tee: Philosophy then Death
No matter what your philosophy is, death still comes to us all. We spend so much of our time conjecturing and discussing and thinking about our lives, but they still all course toward an inevitability.
“that is the sound of inevitability”
This is not to say that our philosophy of life doesn’t have an effect on the quality of our lives, or even the timing or manner of our death. But the point is, that we wonder and think and conjecture, perhaps never really knowing, and we keep doing this for our whole lives, even changing our philosophy through life. But then, we die.
We should live knowing that we die. Contemplating our mortality gives clarity to our every moment. It can give a sense of value to each moment, this being the only life we have.
No matter what philosophy you live by, live each moment knowing the limits your life has.
A Roovii T-shirt: Point Break
Point Break is what I consider a classic movie. The combination of Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze is genius. The thought that you can be a mystical, spiritual surfer, even being nicknamed Bodhi, “Enlightenment“, but rob banks to fund your lifestyle of endless surfing is a great. Such dissonance.
Paddling out into the biggest surf of your life? Yes, ridiculous, but its done with such seriousness. It really takes itself way too seriously. And that is where the joy is.

A Roovii T-shirt: Misery
To explain it, I’m tempted to generalise about human experience and say something throw-away like, “I’m sure in everyone’s life there are moments, where everything just turns to misery”… but I think that would take you down the wrong path. I think you’d jump to conclusions, thinking it’s about the commonest causes of pain: relationships, finances, disease… a lost pet… But this comes instead from a bit of black humour that everynow and then I have to dole out. It’s cathartic. Yes, it is misery… but saying so throws out a smile.
I think the joy in this shirt is the word misery. We rarely use the word. We say pain. We say hurt. We say
… but there is something satisfying about calling something “a” misery… “This is misery… pure misery….”….”MISERY…. OH THE MISERY!” It conveys a black humour at the suffering we have to endure as little tiny people fighting an inevitability of tragedy and suffering. It revels in a sardonic acknowledgement of our helplessness. We try and control things… but really, we are hapless and helpless, cast about without a rudder. What can we do but just bemoan our fate…
MISERY, OH THE MISERY!
